Cruise control is a feature that is pretty much standard on every vehicle today. But this has not always been the case. Many older cars, trucks and SUVs did not come so equipped, and if you happen to own one, we can retrofit a cruise control system into the vehicle.

Cruise control is a servomechanism that takes control of the throttle to maintain a steady speed as set by the driver. It is indispensible on long drives, reducing driver fatigue and improving operator comfort. Such a system can also keep people from inadvertently violating speed limits. At times, increasing speed occurs almost subconsciously – perhaps while listening to music or talking with other occupants in the car. With your speed set to the proper limit for the roadway you are on, you will remain at that speed unless your brakes are applied or you intentionally decide to accelerate. By maintaining a constant speed, your gas mileage will improve as well. Sporadic acceleration tends to consume more fuel, and when you drive without cruise control, you will naturally make small adjustments to your speed all the time.

However, there are certain circumstances in which cruise control should not be used. These include continuing at a given speed around curves that you would normally decelerate through, rough or loose terrain such as gravel or heavily potholed areas, rainy or wet weather and snow or icy conditions. Both the benefits and limitations apply to all vehicles, including commercial or recreational types.

Mobile Installation Services has the expertise to install a cruise control system so that it functions as though it was already included from the manufacturer. Fit, finish and function are seamless and the benefits will are something you can use every time you drive, making every trip more comfortable and saving you money in he long run!
